1 Corinthians 1:18–2:5
God's Upside-Down Strategy

Paul's message to the Corinthians reveals a fundamental choice we all face: pursuing human approval or walking in God's power. The gospel of Christ crucified was offensive to the ancient world because it challenged people at their core rather than simply adding to their existing plans. God deliberately chooses what the world considers foolish and weak to demonstrate that salvation comes through His power, not human achievement. Paul rejected impressive rhetoric and academic credentials, instead appearing weak so God's strength would be unmistakable. We face the same temptation today to make Christianity appealing to our culture, but true faithfulness means finding our identity in God's acceptance rather than craving approval from the world around us.
